What is Matt Paint?

Matt Paint is a water-based, ultra-matte paint for interior walls and ceilings. The paint provides a smooth and matt finish and is developed for easy application with a brush and roller. Which surfaces can Matt Paint be applied to?

Matt Paint can be applied to all interior walls and ceilings. The substrate must be firm, clean, dry, and suitable for painting. Uneven surfaces should be repaired with a suitable filler, sanded smoothly, and dusted off before application.

Can Matt Paint be used on furniture?

Yes, Matt Paint can be used on furniture, but our DETALE Wood Paint is better suited for this purpose. If you want a textured surface on furniture, KABRIC can be a good solution with DETALE Strongcoat as a finishing treatment. How do I prepare the surface before applying Matt Paint?

Remove dirt, grease, and loose material before application. Uneven surfaces should be filled, sanded smooth, and dusted off. On larger surfaces, ceilings, or particularly absorbent surfaces, we recommend applying a suitable primer before the paint.

How is DETALE Matt Paint applied?

DETALE Matt Paint is applied with a brush and roller. Apply the first coat with a brush along the edges and a roller on larger surfaces. Work in sections or vertical lines and always maintain a wet edge to achieve a smooth and even finish.

Allow the surface to dry before applying the second coat, using the same technique to ensure full coverage and an even finish. Remove the masking tape while the paint is still wet to achieve sharp and precise edges.

How long does it take to apply Matt Paint?

Matt Paint is applied in 2 coats to ensure full coverage and an even finish. The drying time between coats is approximately 4 hours. Drying time may vary depending on temperature and humidity but always allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second.

How many m² does Matt Paint cover?

9.1 L of Matt Paint covers approximately 40 finished m², including 2 coats, while 2.8 L of Matt Paint covers approximately 12 finished m², including 2 coats.

Does Matt Paint require a primer or additional surface treatment?

Matt Paint does not require a primer, but if the substrate absorbs unevenly, a primer can contribute to a better result. Matt Paint does not require any additional surface treatment.

Can Matt Paint be used in bathrooms and wet rooms?

Matt Paint is an interior paint that is not wet room certified. Therefore, Matt Paint is not recommended in shower areas or on surfaces that are in direct contact with water.

Can Matt Paint be repaired and maintained?

Matt Paint is an ultra-matt paint with a gloss level of 1 that is also washable. Minor marks can often be removed with a damp cloth, and the surface can be cleaned with mild cleaning detergents. You can also paint over marks that cannot be washed away. Matt Paint is washable, but we recommend avoiding abrasive sponges and strong cleaning products.

How does Matt Paint differ from KABRIC and KC14?

Matt Paint is an ultra-matte paint without texture. KC14 and KABRIC are both products that create textured and tactile surfaces, but they differ from Matt Paint and from each other in terms of appearance, application technique, and drying time.

Is Matt Paint environmentally certified?
