Before applying KABRIC to furniture, make sure the surface is clean, dry, stable, and suitable for application. Proper preparation is essential to achieve a durable and beautiful finish.

Ensure the furniture is free from dirt, grease, and loose material before starting the application.

Step by step

Step 1

Sand the surface and apply a suitable primer to create the best foundation for KABRIC. Once the primer is dry, apply the first layer of KABRIC to cover the surface completely and let it dry.

Lightly sand off any irregularities on the surface and edges, then remove dust with a soft dust brush. Apply the second layer of KABRIC with extra attention to corners and edges to ensure complete coverage. Let the surface dry before moving on to the next step.

Tip: Every piece of furniture is different. Choose the tools and application techniques that best suit the surface, and always follow the recommended build-up with sanding, primer, and DETALE Strongcoat for a beautiful and durable finish.

Step 2

Sand the edges and corners carefully to create a soft and refined finish. Remove all dust from the surface.

Apply a thin third layer of KABRIC without focusing on the edges and corners. Concentrate on creating a refined finish across the larger areas. Once dry, lightly sand the surface again and remove dust.

Step 3

Complete the process by applying min. 2 layers of DETALE Strongcoat for added protection and durability. Apply Strongcoat using varied, non-linear movements and avoid working in straight lines.

Tip: For furniture such as cabinets, doors, or drawers, consider using DETALE Wood Paint or DETALE Matt Paint on edges and corners. This can help minimise the need for detailed sanding while ensuring smooth movement and flexibility during daily use.
